Each of our coaches brings a unique background and area of expertise, from performance-based strength training and functional fitness to endurance events and hybrid athleticism. We’ve carefully selected our coaching team for their ability to inspire, motivate, and connect with our members, drawing on their own personal athletic journeys and a wealth of real-world experience.

MEET THE COACHES

Matt Bloor

Owner and founder of the Core Group, which includes CorePT Fitness, Core Strength, and CoreGym, Matt brings a lifetime of commitment to sports, health, and fitness. His passion has driven him to build a career as both an athlete and a sport and exercise scientist.

As an athlete, Matt captained his country at the U18 schoolboy level in football and later had a successful semi-professional career. Following an injury that ended his football career, he transitioned to hybrid athleticism, where he continues to excel. With an Ironman personal best of 9 hours 51 minutes and a sub-17-minute 5K time, Matt’s dedication is evident. His achievements also include multiple marathons, half marathons, half Ironmans, and now, HYROX competitions. His ultimate goal is to compete in both the Ironman and HYROX World Championships, an accomplishment yet to be achieved.

Academically, Matt holds a First-Class Honours degree in Sports Performance and has experience working with clients across all fitness levels, from those new to exercise seeking lifestyle changes to elite athletes at the top of their game. He brings this expertise to CoreGym, helping members push their limits and reach new heights.

MEET THE COACHES

Anna Bloor

Health and fitness have always been central to Anna’s life. She danced from age 4 to 16 before transitioning to gym-based training and running. Nine years ago, she qualified as a coach, driven by a desire to guide others in group settings. The energy and motivation of training alongside others fuel her approach to coaching.

As Co-owner of CoreGym, Anna is focused on creating a friendly, inclusive, and supportive community where everyone, regardless of ability, feels welcome and empowered. Anna is competing in her first HYROX races this year.

MEET THE COACHES

Danny Uscroft-Mould

CoreGym Manager | Team Core Ambassador Athlete | Core Strength Brand Ambassador

Danny is a dedicated coach and seasoned endurance athlete with a relentless drive for performance and progression. As the Gym Manager at CoreGym, he leads by example, inside the gym and out at competitions, bringing intensity, structure, and a strong sense of camaraderie to every session. He brings this commitment to every member of CoreGym, fostering resilience and performance.

He’s no stranger to pushing limits. With multiple HYROX races under his belt, Danny has earned podium finishes, smashed PBs, and represented Team Core in the Chicago 2025 HYROX World Championships. 

His endurance credentials are equally impressive: a sub-3-hour marathon, Ironman Bolton in 2022, and a string of ultra-distance events—including a 175-mile cycle and a 48-mile charity run for Macmillan. In April 2025 alone, he completed four marathons in four weeks, a challenge few would even attempt, let alone conquer.

Outside the gym, Danny’s a family man, sports fan, and all-round grafter. His passion for fitness, paired with genuine care for people, shapes his coaching style. Resilient, supportive, and results driven.

MEET THE COACHES

Joey Martin

With 16 years of training experience, Joey specialises in performance-based strength and conditioning, focusing on lifting heavy and working hard. His foundation as a coach is rooted in his years as a semi-professional rugby player and his academic journey, achieving a BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching and Fitness from Leeds Metropolitan University.

Now retired from rugby, Joey has embraced endurance events, pushing his personal boundaries in new ways. He brings his experience to the CoreGym community, helping members unlock their potential and reach their goals.

Alex Campbell

A former semi-professional rugby player, Alex has since shifted his focus to competing in a variety of functional fitness events, including Turf Games, HYROX, and ATHX Games, and has recently completed a marathon. His athletic background enables him to bring a well-rounded approach to coaching, blending intensity with technique.

Alex is dedicated to helping CoreGym members navigate their fitness journeys with a competitive edge and a supportive approach, ensuring everyone feels empowered and motivated.

Sophie Grimbleby

Sophie is a dedicated personal trainer with five years of experience in the local area, helping clients from complete beginners to marathon runners and HYROX athletes unlock their true potential.

Her coaching philosophy is a blend of motivation, growth, and results. She thrives on guiding people as they push past perceived limits and surprise themselves with what they can achieve.

Sophie leads by example, constantly chasing new personal challenges, whether that’s tackling half Ironman events, HYROX competitions, or another marathon.
